Android Developer – BandLab

We are looking for a strong middle/senior level Android developer who has experience developing native Android applications with Android SDK. We use cutting-edge technologies, and are constantly searching for the best approaches to build our Android application. If you are passionate about Android development and ready to become better, and grow fast as a developer you will fit perfectly within our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product designers and other developers to deliver solutions fast
  • Architect an efficient and reusable code for UI and business logic
  • Cover your code with unit and instrumentation tests
  • Improve the existing codebase with better architectural solutions

Requirements:

  • 2+ years building Android applications with Android SDK
  • Deep knowledge of Java and Android SDK
  • Strong understanding of design patterns
  • Ability to work with a large codebase and help to keep it clean and maintainable
  • Team work experience

Highly Considered:

  • Experience with audio and NDK will be an advantage
  • Experience with Kotlin language will be an advantage but not a requirement

iOS Developer – BandLab

We are looking for a strong middle/senior level iOS developer who has experience developing native iOS applications via iOS SDK.

Senior Backend Developer – BandLab

We’re looking for someone to join our exciting and innovative music company. You will be responsible for backend software development for a range of products including our flagship digital platform. This is an opportunity to be part of an expanding music-tech company at a growth stage and work with some of the smartest people in the industry. The position is based in Singapore and reports to BE Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Software development based on high-level requirements: estimating, developing, code review, performance optimization, documentation
  • Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure
  • Communicate with other internal teams during analysis and development phase
  • Collaborate with team members on design and implementation

Essential requirements:

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of .NET Framework 4.6
  • Proficient in ASP.NET Web API (+OWIN) stack
  • Excellent OOP/OOD skills, understanding of design patterns and SOLID
  • Multi-threaded application development and async programming
  • Experience with software engineering best practices including unit testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment and source control

Web Developer (Media)

We are looking for hard-working, passionate people to join our growing web development team. The web developer will be participating in the development and maintenance of media websites (blogs, news). He/She will be collaborating with developers, designers, testers and marketing to produce outstanding user experiences, developing and maintaining high traffic sites visited by users worldwide as well as internal websites. The ideal candidate is someone who will excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and who is also an all-around team player.

The ideal candidate will know how to hit deadlines, ask questions and thrives in a fast-­paced iterative engineering environment and have the ability to think strategically about the embracing the upcoming web technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our blog and media websites
  • Contribute to monitoring and optimizing site performance, stability and security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing codes
  • Work with UI/UX designers on implementing new site features and changes
  • Write documentation of current and future configurations, processes and procedures
  • Utilize web services to integrate with 3rd party applications
  • Utilize ads APIs (eg: Adwords) to generate traffic report and consolidate data

Production Editor

Are you an experienced production editor looking for an exciting new challenge, or a production assistant looking to make the next step in your career? BandLab Technologies is looking for a talented production editor to join our brand new UK-based team working across our music-making titles, The Guitar Magazine and Music Tech.

Both titles are long-established, key players within their respective verticals, and as a result of their recent acquisition by BandLab Technologies, are looking to recruit talented and hard-working people to become part of the team.

The successful candidate will work across The Guitar Magazine and MusicTech both in print and online, supporting the content teams of both brands to ensure that deadlines are met and content is of the highest possible standard.

It is the production editor’s job to ensure that the magazines’ production cycle moves forward as efficiently as possible, once work is commissioned by the content team, to completion within set deadlines.

They will be in charge of the sub-editing process across all the Guitar Magazine and MusicTech channels, ensuring that all copy is accurate, interesting, and adheres to the brand guidelines.

They will also be responsible for managing their time effectively across both titles to ensure that the magazines are sent to press on time and that online features and reviews are ready to publish when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the brands’ multi-channel production process, shaping features and reviews to be published both online and in print, and tailoring them for those different audiences.
  • Ensuring the magazine is completed on time, to style, and of the highest possible standard. This will involve working closely with the art editor and the rest of the editorial team to ensure deadlines are met and the production process runs efficiently to minimise downtime and choke points.
  • Controlling the sub-editing and copy fitting process of both magazines.
  • Subbing and fitting work quickly and efficiently to house style, rewriting and providing feedback to contributors where necessary.
  • Producing inventive, concise and engaging headlines, stand firsts and captions.
  • Sub-editing online features and reviews, ensuring they are accurate, engaging, and reflecting house style.
  • Communicating with external contributors and in-house staff to ensure their work arrives on time and commissions are fulfilled.
  • Maintaining flatplans, including making amendments to the layout as directed by the editors or advertising managers.
  • Liaising with the production controller to ensure delivery of pages to send to press.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience as a production editor or production assistant (preferably, though not essentially) on a newsstand consumer magazine or website.
  • Excellent command of written English, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • A rigorous eye for detail and fact-checking.
  • Ability to work with and understand highly detailed technical copy to ensure it’s entertaining and engaging for the reader.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Comfortable hitting regular deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with Adobe InDesign and WordPress.
  • Familiarity with UK media and libel law.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • A passion for music making – particularly guitars, live performance, recording, music production and music technology.
  • Experience or familiarity with the musical instrument industry.
  • A postgraduate qualification (MA or PGDip) in Magazine Journalism or similar.
  • Basic understanding of SEO.
  • Professional print/online writing experience.
